Robert E. LeeOne of the most recognized Generals. Lee was a Confederate General who didn't agree with the Confederacy completely, but thought he had to fight for his home state, Virginia.

George McClellanMcClellan was a very popular man with his men. He fought the battle of Antietam, but made his biggest mistake there. He underestimated the size of the Confederate army, which cost him and his men gravely.

Thomas "Stonewall" JacksonA very well-known Confederate General, Stonewall gained his famous nickname when he refused to back down at the battle of Manassas and Bull Run.

Presidents
Abraham Lincoln
Lincoln was elected in 1860 against Stephan Douglas, after gaining huge support from the North. Lincoln survived and won the war, but was later assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. He wrote the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, which sparked new hope for the North. His famous Gettysburg Address also gave the North a reason to win.

Jefferson Davis
Lincoln wasn't the only one! Jefferson Davis was the first and only president of the Confederate States of America. Elected in 1861, Davis was determined to win the war.
